A used device listing is for one specific unit. The listing shows what was checked on that unit, what condition it is in, and anything that is wrong with it.
The test report
Each device listing can include a test report built from a checklist for its type — for example display, touch, cameras, cellular, charging, and activation lock for phones and tablets; or display, keyboard, ports, storage health, and thermals for computers. Every check is recorded as Working, Faulty, or Not applicable. A check that wasn't run is left off the report rather than shown as a pass.
Disclosure rules
- A failed check must be listed under Known faults.
- A device with a failed check can't be listed as Grade A or B — those grades mean fully functional.
- A Parts / Repair listing must state what is wrong with it.
One unit, one listing
A device listed as one-of-one is a single unit, identified by an asset ID such as TV-LAP-000001. Once it sells it can't be bought again; its page stays up and shows SOLD.
What is never published
Serial numbers and IMEIs are never published on the website.
Reuse first
TechVerge's order of preference is to reuse a device as-is, then repair it or recover useful parts, and only then route material to an appropriate recycling path. Read more on reuse & recycling.
