A used phone is only useful if it's yours to set up and works on your network. Here's what to look at on a TechVerge listing, and what to do when it arrives.
Before you buy
- Ownership locks. Activation Lock, Find My, FRP and MDM must be off for a device to be usable. Phone and tablet test reports include an "Activation lock removed" check, and TechVerge does not offer lock-bypass services.
- Carrier. General guidance: an "unlocked" phone can be used with different carriers; check that the model supports your carrier's network.
- Battery health — see battery health explained.
- Condition grade and known faults — see condition grades explained.
When it arrives
- Set it up promptly and report any functional problem that wasn't disclosed in the listing.
- If it arrived damaged, photograph the box, label, packing, and device, and keep the packaging while the claim is reviewed.
- You can request a return within 30 days after delivery unless the listing states a different period. Contact support before returning anything, and don't mail a device until instructions are confirmed.
