How we test & grade

The process every device goes through before it's listed, and what our condition labels mean.

1. Check-in

  • We only accept equipment from sellers with the right to sell it.
  • Model, revision and serial number are recorded privately for warranty and returns.
  • Devices with activation locks, account locks or management locks are not sold until the rightful owner removes them. We don't bypass locks.
  • Damaged or swollen batteries are set aside and handled safely; they are never shipped.

2. Data wiping

Every storage drive is erased before sale using a method suited to the drive type, and the result is checked. A drive that can't be erased and verified is removed from the device and destroyed or recycled — it's never resold. We don't look at, copy or keep data left on incoming devices.

3. Testing

What we test depends on the device. For a desktop, that typically includes:

  • Power-on, boot and stability under load
  • Memory and storage health checks
  • Every USB, video, audio and network port
  • Fans and temperatures
  • Operating system install and updates

Phones and network equipment get model-specific checks — for example display, handset, speaker, network ports and a factory reset for IP phones.

4. Grading

Grades describe cosmetic condition. Everything we sell has passed functional testing, whatever its grade.

LabelWhat it means
ExcellentLooks close to new. Little or no visible wear at arm's length.
GoodLight scuffs or scratches from normal use. Nothing that affects function.
FairNoticeable wear such as deeper scratches or small dents. Fully working; described in the listing.
RefurbishedRestored and tested by us. The listing photos and notes show the unit's cosmetic condition.
Used — testedAn accessory or part that was cleaned and tested but not otherwise restored.

What we don't do

  • We don't call anything "new" unless it's factory-sealed new.
  • We don't claim manufacturer certification or warranties we don't have.
  • We don't sell devices that can't receive security updates for everyday online use without saying so clearly.
